How to Colour with Markers with Stampin’ Up!’s Joyful Tidings Stamp Set

If you’ve got Stampin’ Write Markers in your stash, now is the time to use them—they’re on the Last Chance list and won’t be available much longer!  Stampin’ Write Markers are water-based markers with a dual tip: one fine tip for writing and details, and one brush tip for colouring or adding ink directly to your stamps.  See more about the Last Chance/Retiring products HERE.

On this card, I’ll show you how I used markers to create a multi-tone Christmas wreath with the Joyful Tidings stamp set. This simple direct-to-stamp technique is one of my favourites for adding depth and dimension to images.  You can watch me make this card step-by-step in my video here.   And see the complete supply list at the end of this post.

Here’s how to make this card:

  1. Emboss the Old Olive layer with the Pressed Flowers folder.

  2. Ink the wreath stamp in Old Olive, then add darker accents directly on the stamp with a Garden Green marker. Huff (like Darth Vader!) to remoisten before stamping on Basic White. This creates a beautiful two-tone effect.

  3. Mat the panel with Cherry Cobbler cardstock for a sleek 1/16″ reveal.

  4. Wrap the embossed layer with gold trim and adhere to the card base.  p.s. the Gold Trim is also on the retiring list!

  5. Add the stamped panel with Stampin’ Dimensionals.

  6. Peel and stick a gold ephemera greeting for instant shine (more about that below)

  7. Finish with a loopy gold bow and red gems for berries.

    Why You’ll Love This Technique

    • Markers create depth: Multi-tone greenery without complicated layering.

    • Ephemera saves time: Peel-and-stick greetings look polished in seconds.

    • Embossing + tight mat: Adds texture and elegance.

Spotlight on the Ephemera Pack

Another favourite element on this card is the Greetings for You Mix& Match Ephemera Pack. These ready-to-use gold greetings are pre-cut, self-adhesive, and thick enough to feel substantial on a card front. They give you instant shine without needing extra stamping or embossing, making them perfect when you want to create a polished card quickly.greetings for your ephemera pack

The Greetings for You Mix & Match Ephemera Pack are pretty economical too.  Each package has 6 sheets (2 each of 3 designs) and there are about 20 designs on each sheet for an approximate total of 120 greetings for $11.75 plus shipping and taxes.

I’ve also used the ephemera pieces in another project with the Snowflake Delights Decorative Masks—you can check that one out here:   See the Snowflake Delights Ephemera Card

Don’t wait—these markers are on the Last Chance list!
