snowy delights snowflake masks front

Do you love the look of handmade snowflake cards, but sometimes feel like they take too long? ❄️ I’ve got you covered! In today’s tutorial, I’m showing how to use the Stampin’ Up! Snowy Delights Decorative Masks to create a 3D snowflake background with simple ink blending. With just a few inks, a blending brush, and these clever layering masks, you’ll get a frosty, dimensional look that’s perfect for Christmas cards.

And the best part? You can finish your cards in minutes by adding a greeting from the Mix & Match Ephemera Packs—no stamping required! Just peel, stick, and your handmade card is ready to send.

Step 1: Gather Your Supplies

Here’s what I used for this project—see the products below in my supply list.

  • Snowy Delights Decorative Masks (Mini Catalogue p.53)

  • Blending Brushes

  • Inks: Cloud Cover, Balmy Blue, Azure Afternoon, Misty Moonlight

  • Cardstock: Cloud Cover + coordinating blues

  • Greetings For You Mix & Match Ephemera Pack (ready-to-use greetings)

  • Gold Ribbon + Blue Gems

  • Adhesives: double-sided tape and Stampin’ Dimensionals

Step 2: Layer the Snowflake Background

This is where the magic happens! The Snowy Delights Masks are numbered, so you can layer them one by one:

  1. Mask 1 – Cloud Cover ink for the base snowflake

  2. Mask 2 – Balmy Blue adds a soft highlight (think shadow / 3D effect)

  3. Mask 3 – Azure Afternoon for vibrant detail

  4. Mask 4 – Misty Moonlight for crisp, dark accents

✨ Tip: Always start with your lightest ink and build up colour. Push harder with your blending brush for deeper tones.

Step 3: Add a Greeting the Easy Way

Instead of pulling out more stamps and ink, I reached for the Greetings For You Mix & Match Ephemera Pack. These packs are a hidden gem in the catalogue—they come with pre-printed sentiments on sturdy cardstock that already has adhesive backing.

That means:

  • No extra stamping or die-cutting

  • Perfectly coordinated fonts and colours

  • Just peel, stick, and go!

For this card, I chose “Merry & Bright” in gold foil and popped it up with Stampin’ Dimensionals for extra dimension.

Step 4: Assemble the Card

  • Cut a Cloud Cover card base (8½” x 5½”, scored at 4¼”).

  • Layer your snowflake panel (5¼” x 4″).

  • Add your ephemera greeting.

  • Embellish with ribbon and gems for sparkle.

  • Pop up the sentiment using Stampin’ Dimensionals.

Step 5: Alternate Colour Ideas

The masks are so versatile! Try pinks and purples for a whimsical winter look, or stick with classic blues for a frosty, traditional vibe. I even added Wink of Stella to some samples for extra shimmer.
