“I’m Just Ken” ~ Home Made Card

i'm just ken (from Barbie) Today is Ken’s day! Last week,  I posted about a super cute Barbie card that I made during a Live video.

I made a matching Ken card for today’s post.  At some of the Barbie movie premiers, I saw Ryan Gosling wearing these fabulous light-coloured suits, so I decided my Ken card should be in a Fresh Freesia suit.  Fresh Freesia is like a pink and purple combined today, and Ken wears it well.  I purposefully coloured his jacket to look tailored at the waist.

I used the stamp set as my Barbie post: Here’s to Love.  It is a wedding stamp set, but the bride and groom images were perfect for my Barbie and Ken cards.  See all the supplies I used at the end of this post.

glorious gingham DSPFor Ken’s card, I tried to make the card a little more ‘masculine’ with mostly clean lines and a plaid background.  I stamped the Ken image with my Tuxedo Black Memento ink on a piece of Basic White cardstock.  I cut out the image with the Radiating Stitches dies.  These dies have a subtle but interesting border around the edge.  The Radiating Stitches dies are also only available online in the Online Exclusives section of my Stampin’ Up! Store (view here).

I also used the Radiating Stitches dies to cut out the little circle where I stamped “No. 1”.  If you watched the Barbie movie, you know this is a nod to the fact that Ken is quite upset at being a No.2 to Barbie. I also got a little bit of extra blue ink on the circle when I stamped it, but I decided it added to the look and just left it.

The greeting comes from the He’s the Man stamp set. The greeting “hello handsome” also features a moustache image.  To omit the moustache,  I laid scrap paper over the image and then inked up the greeting with Blueberry Bushel ink.  I then removed the piece of scrap paper and stamped the greeting.  I then punched out the greeting with the Double Oval Punch from Stampin’ Up!, which you can see on the list of supplies below.

hes all that stamp setFinally, I added a little bling with the Tinsel Gems, to the greeting, as this handsome Ken needed a little extra something!

I’m going to enjoy giving this card to my handsome #1 husband!
