Patchwork Pieces Sewing Card

When I got the Patchwork Pieces dies from Stampin’ Up! I was excited to try them to make a fun background, and I thought a sewing theme would be perfect.

The Crafting for You stamp set has images for all types of crafters, including sewers, knitters, painters and paper crafters.  And I love that the matching Crafting for You dies will cut out many of these images.

For my colour scheme, I took inspiration from the Countryside Inn Designer Series Papers and used a combination of blues from Stampin’ Up!  You can see the complete list of supplies I used (with names and prices) at the end of this post.

Misty Moonlight is the die cut layer (done with the Radiating Stitches dies from the Online Exclusives). The next layer is Boho Blue, with the Designer Series Paper on top.  I stamped the sewing machine with Misty Moonlight ink and the greeting with Balmy Blue ink (there is just a little bit of Balmy Blue in the Designer Series Paper).

Here are all the colours in the Countryside Inn Designer Series Papers.

How I Used the Patchwork Pieces Dies

  1. I cut a piece of Basic White at 4 5/8″ x 3 1/8″*
  2. Then I die cut out two pieces of the Countryside Inn Designer Series Paper (one with more White in the background and one with more Night of Navy in the background).
  3. I then glued down the darker die cuts first and I was careful to keep their shape as I die-cut them. I used the Multipurpose Liquid Glue, so I had some wiggle room when attaching the pieces.
  4. Then I glued down every other panel with the White background.  See the video for how I pieced the die cuts together.

To finish the card, I die-cut a Basic White circle (see all the products I used below) to stamp the sewing machine and greeting. In the video, I also share a stepped-up version where I die-cut the sewing machine as well).  Finally, I added some pretty Loose Silver Sequins to the front of the card for some shimmer.
