When I first saw this adorable Meerkat stamp set from Stampin’ Up!, The Gang’s All Meer, I had to have it! Not only are real meerkats adorable, but so are the Stampin’ Up!  versions of them.  And I love puns, so the set name and the sayings “Happy Birthday to a Stand-up Friend” is adorable too.

The set also includes the little birthday hat that I put on one of the meerkats and several other images that all go together.

To make this card, I stamped the image with Memento Black ink on a stitched die cut circle.  And then I coloured in the meerkats with a combination of Stampin’ Up! alcohol Blends markers (see more about Blends here).  The Designer Series Paper that I used was the Perennial Essence from the Stampin’ Up! main catalogue. It is a gorgeous floral paper, but it also has interesting colours on the reverse side.  I pulled the accent colours for this card from the Designer Series Paper, which had a sort of ombre colour wash of purple colours.   I used a combination of Gorgeous Grape ink (for the party hat) and Blackberry Bliss cardstock (for the strip of cardstock).  See the full supplies for this card below.

You’ll notice two different white cardstocks on the supply list below.  I like to use the THICK Whisper White cardstock for a card base and then the colouring works much better on the regular Whisper White cardstock.

For the top card layer, I used Sahara Sand cardstock as I find that is a nice neutral colour that is a little more exciting than just plain white.  Plus Sahara Sand cardstock matches well with the Crumb Cake Blends markers that I used to colour in the meerkats.  I love this colour combination of the purples and will use it again!  Let me know if you give it a try.
