Sneak Peek: Ribbon of Courage

I had the honour of doing a presentation on a new stamp set called the “Ribbon of Courage” at a Stampin’ Up! meeting recently in Toronto for 350 demonstrators.  Here I am on the stage presenting and just before with my “madonna” microphone on.

I was given a new stamp set from the upcoming Stampin’ Up! 2017-2018 Catalogue to work with (get your new catalogue here). It was a special stamp set designed by a demonstrator in California, Patty Bennett, who achieved a million dollars in sales with Stampin’ Up! As part of her gifts for achieving that level (that’s a lot of stamping supplies!) she got to sit with a designer and design a stamp set.

Patty’s stamp set, “Ribbon of Courage”  is in honour of her mom who unfortunately lost a battle to cancer.  Patty wanted her set to be a tribute to her mom who had encouraged her to pursue rubber stamping.

I’ve used the stamp set to design some cards that you might send to a friend who is going thru treatments for cancer or any type of disease to show your support.  I don’t know about you, but sadly, I have known too many people I could give cards like this to.  I’ve also used the stamp set for some other types of cards too which I’ll share with you in another post.

On this card, I just simply stamped the ribbon in the background  in Soft Sky and then I added a stamped butterfly (stamped with Basic Black ink)  over top.  I stamped the butterfly on Soft Sky cardstock and lightly sponged Dapper Denim ink over top.  The butterfly stamp set Papillon Potpourri and the Elegant Butterfly punch are both on the Stampin’ Up! retiring list and will not be available for long.

I love the sayings in this stamp set as they are lovely for any type of card. And the combination of mixed fonts and extra little swirls is cool.  On this last card I stamped the ribbon with pretty swirls and flowers on it  and then I coloured it in with markers.  Compare that to the first card in this post where I embossed the image in image and then just highlighted a few swirls with a marker.  This ribbon is just so gorgeous to work with.  And there are lots of useful elements in the stamp set, like the matching little white flower on this card. There is also a die that matches the flower.

Be sure to check back to www.stampwithjenn.com this weekend where I’ll show you part 2 of what I presented with the Ribbon of Courage stamp set.
