23 Years with Stampin’ Up! — What I Never Expected

When I signed up to become a Stampin’ Up! demonstrator 23 years ago, I truly thought I was just joining for the discount.

I loved stamping, wanted to save money on supplies, and figured it would simply be a fun hobby.

What I didn’t expect was how much it would change my life over the years that followed.

As I look back on these past 23 years, I realize the biggest gifts weren’t actually the stamps, ink, or paper — although there has certainly been plenty of that too.

The real surprises were the friendships, confidence, creativity, opportunities, and experiences that came along the way.

So today, I thought it would be fun to share a few of the things I’ve gained over the past 23 years as a demonstrator.

1. Lifelong Friendships

Some of my closest friendships today started because of stamping. I’ve met wonderful people across Canada (and beyond!) who I never would have crossed paths with otherwise.

2. A Creative Outlet

Life gets busy and stressful sometimes. Having creativity as part of my life has given me a way to relax, recharge, and express myself.

3. Confidence I Didn’t Have Before

Teaching classes, doing videos, speaking in front of groups, and running events were all things that once felt intimidating. Over time, this business helped me build confidence in ways I never expected.

4. Skills Beyond Crafting

Over the years I’ve learned photography, video editing, blogging, email marketing, online teaching, social media, organization, and technology skills that never would have been on my radar 23 years ago.

5. Opportunities to Help Others Create

One of the most rewarding parts has been helping people discover creativity for themselves — especially those who thought they “weren’t creative.”

6. Community

Crafting is so much more fun when shared with others. Whether it’s classes, lives, retreats, team events, or simply chatting online, the community aspect has been one of the biggest blessings.

7. Flexibility

Stampin’ Up! has fit into so many different seasons of my life over the years. Sometimes it was a hobby, sometimes a side business, and sometimes something much bigger.

8. The Joy of Inspiring Others

There’s something incredibly special about seeing someone recreate an idea you shared or hearing that a project inspired them to pull out their supplies again.

9. A Business I Never Planned on Having

If you had told me 23 years ago that I’d still be here teaching card making online, running classes, writing newsletters, and doing weekly videos… I never would have believed you.

10. So Many Wonderful Memories

Events, milestones, catalogue launches, retreats, laughs, late-night crafting sessions, team celebrations, and countless creative moments — there are so many memories tied to this journey.

And honestly? I’m incredibly grateful for all of it.

Whether you’ve been following me for years or you’re brand new to my community, thank you for being part of this creative journey with me.

And if you’ve ever been curious about becoming a demonstrator yourself, maybe my story is proof that sometimes the smallest decisions can lead to the most unexpected blessings.
