If you’re looking for a creative, masculine card idea, this BBQ-themed project is such a fun one to try.

In today’s project, I used the Party Alphabet Dies from Stampin’ Up! to create realistic-looking flames inside the letters using blending brushes and ink. The finished card is perfect for birthdays, Father’s Day, summer BBQ invitations, or anyone who loves grilling.

This project also combines several techniques including ink blending, layered die cuts, custom greetings, and splatter effects to create extra texture and detail.

Creating the Fire Letter Effect

The highlight of this card is definitely the fire effect inside the large “BBQ” letters.

To create the flames, I blended colour onto Crushed Curry cardstock using Timid Tiger, Real Red, and Cherry Cobbler ink. Layering the colours creates a realistic gradient that looks like glowing fire.

After blending the inks, I die cut the letters using the Party Alphabet Dies and layered them onto Basic Black cardstock for contrast and dimension.

Adding Masculine Texture and Detail

One of my favourite things about masculine cards is adding texture without making the design feel overly busy.

For this card, I used the Country Woods Designer Series Paper to create a weathered woodgrain background that works perfectly with the BBQ theme.

I also added:

• Black Stampin’ Dimensionals for extra depth (and with Black you don’t see them from the side)
• Splatter effects using a Stampin’ Blend and Bone Folder
• Die-cut grilling utensils from the BBQ Master Bundle
• A custom printed greeting for a personalized touch

Inside the Card

I kept the inside simple while still coordinating with the overall BBQ theme.
