If you love making cards that get a laugh, today’s project is definitely one to try! This funny masculine birthday card uses the Not 29 Anymore stamp set — a hilarious collection of snarky sayings that are perfect for milestone birthdays (or anyone who appreciates a bit of humour).

I designed this card in a collage layout, where the sentiments become the main feature. It’s clean, graphic, modern, and a great way to show off multiple greetings at once. The candles and flames come from the Sweet Jar stamp set, and they tuck perfectly into the block-style design.

Colour Combination

Here’s the colour combination I used for this project — and it’s one that works wonderfully for masculine cards.
Secret Sea is the dominant colour here (it’s the card base and the visual anchor), followed by Cloud Cover, which softens everything and keeps the layout looking clean. Timid Tiger and Darling Duckling bring in that pop of energy and humour—perfect for all these funny sentiments—without feeling too bright or too “birthday-balloonish.” And of course, Basic White acts as a neutral balance so the stamped images and sayings really stand out.

Feel free to adapt this combo to whatever you have on hand, but keeping the strongest colour first and the brighter accents later helps maintain that masculine, modern feel.

Why This Makes a Great Masculine Card

Inside Greeting

For the inside of the card, I added a fun little stamping detail to give the greeting a 3D shadowed effect. I first stamped “Happy Birthday” in Cloud Cover ink, and then stamped the same greeting slightly offset using Timid Tiger ink.

Layering the two colours creates a soft drop-shadow look — subtle, but such a great way to add personality without extra layers or tools. To finish it off, I added the cheeky sentiment “here’s to another year of questionable decisions” underneath Secret Sea ink, which ties in perfectly with the masculine colour palette on the card front.

This simple technique ties the inside perfectly to the bold, playful style of the card front.

✨The Perfect Finishing Touches for This Card

And let’s talk bling for just a second — because yes, you can absolutely add sparkle to a masculine card! I added a touch of Wink of Stella to the candle flames for a subtle glow, and then finished the card front with five of the 2025–2027 In Color™ Flat Pearls. (Odd numbers always look best!) Even though the pearls have a bit of shine, they simply add to the fun, festive birthday vibe. And because they match the colours already on the card, everything feels coordinated and intentional — not flashy.
