Pop Up Petals – New Online Exclusive

For this project I paired the Pop Up Petals stamp set and dies with a soft, cheerful colour combo: Balmy Blue, Lemon Lolly, Daffodil Delight, Granny Apple Green, and Pecan Pie. The front of the card features a white-on-white embossed background, a strip of Brights 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Paper, and a stamped floral focal panel.

It looks detailed, but it’s actually very achievable once you see the steps in the video.

A Clean, Textured Card Front

On the front of the card, I used:

  • Basic White cardstock for the card base and layers

  • The Beautiful Pattern 3D Embossing Folder for soft texture

  • A strip of Daffodil Delight patterned paper from the Brights 6″ x 6″ pack

  • A Balmy Blue ink-blended panel as the backdrop for the flowers

  • Balmy Blue 1/2″ Sheer Ribbon wrapped around the focal layer for a soft finishing touch

The flowers are stamped in Tuxedo Black Memento and filled in with the two-step images in Lemon Lolly and Daffodil Delight, then accented with Stampin’ Blends and a little Wink of Stella for sparkle.

The Surprise Inside – Pop-Up Flower Box

The real star of this card is inside!
Using the Pop Up Petals Dies, I created a simple pop-up mechanism that turns the inside of the card into a little 3D flower box filled with blooms.

I added small squares of Woven Textures 12″ x 12″ Designer Series Paper to the front of the pop-up piece so it looks like a woven basket.

The “flower box” part of the pop-up is decorated with the Woven Textures Designer Series Paper. This paper pack is full of realistic woven, straw, fabric, and basket-style prints in natural hues, which makes it perfect for creating:

  • Baskets

  • Boxes

  • Backgrounds with subtle texture

There’s also a clever little folded strip that finishes the top edge of the box, which makes it look extra polished. (The DSP is on the LAST CHANCE list).

When you open the card, the bouquet of flowers “pops” forward, but you still have room around it to write your message.

Colouring the Flowers and Butterflies with Stampin’ Blends

The Pop Up Petals stamp set includes several floral images and some sweet little butterflies. On this card, I:

  • Stamped the images in Tuxedo Black Memento

  • Used Stampin’ Blends in Lemon Lolly, Daffodil Delight, Balmy Blue, and Granny Apple Green to add soft shading

  • Added a few extra dots and details with the dark Pecan Pie Stampin’ Blends marker for the sunflower centres

  • Gave the flowers and butterflies a light touch of Clear Wink of Stella for shimmer
