Love What you Do for Online Class
We made this lovely and elegant card using the Love What you Do Stamp Set at my recent Online Class. Yes, I had a class and we did it with a combination of videos and instruction in a private Facebook group (or videos if not on Facebook). It was so much fun!!! Participants picked up their packages at my place or I mailed them out. Read all the details on my next class HERE.
I love a card like this as it can have any saying on it. It is elegant enough to be a wedding card and yet it could also be an anniversary card, a birthday card, a sympathy card or just a ‘thinking of you’ card like what I’ve made.
In my Online Class, participants knew the size of the rectangle and punch out ahead of time so they could swap in whatever stamp sets they had. I used the retiring Love What you Do stamp set for the image. And I used the Peaceful Moments stamp set for the words (this one is not retiring).
To see the full list of items retiring from Stampin’ Up, click here. But don’t wait too long as retiring item are only available up to June 2nd or while supplies last.
I will miss the Love What you Do stamp set as this has been one of my favourite all-around stamp sets. The fonts on the sayings are also lovely. The background “splotches” can be used for so many things. I’ll share another card this week at www.StampwithJenn.com using one of the splotches.
On this card, we stamped the image and the saying with Smoky Slate ink. But I also let class participants know that they could have used a darker ink like Memento Black or Basic Gray. I liked the lighter colour because it added to the elegance of the card.
We then just lightly coloured in the image. Because the Smoky Slate ink is water-based, we had to be careful to not colour over any lines with the Blends Alchohol marker so that the image didn’t bleed. Class participants could also colour with regular markers, Blender pens and ink pads or pencil crayons. I gave all participants a full list of alternate products that they could use. You can see the full supply list that I used on this card at the end of this post.
Another tip I wanted to show on this card is how I did the accent on the saying. With the Pretty Label Punch, I punched out one Whisper White label and one Seaside Spray label. We stamped the saying on the white piece and then we offset the Seaside Spray piece to give the illusion of a layer. You could also cut the Seaside Spray punch out in half and add half of the punch out to the top and half to the bottom, leaving a little gap in the middle. This would also make it seem like there was a layer under the saying.
I also added a couple of small pearls to either end of the sayings. To shop for the Love What you Do stamp set of any of thee products mentioned in this post, you can view my Online Store here or click on any of the items below.
