I love Stampin’ Up!’s Clear-Mount Blocks. They are, of course used for mounting our clear-mount stamps onto, but I’ve found that they make wonderful “paint pallets” as well, for colouring.
I’ve come up with a great tip for keeping the colors clean, so that the ink from the markers don’t get blended together as you’re applying them to the block. This is especially useful for classes, making sure that each person knows what area of the block he / she should apply the appropriate marker colours onto.
1. To start, you’ll need Clear-Mount Blocks. They come in various sizes (main catalog – page 205). The block size you’ll use will depend on how many colors you’ll be using for your linear stamp design.
2. Using the 1-3/8″ Circle Punch (main catalog pg 212 item #119860) punch out the same colors of cardstock as the colours of Stampin’ Write Markers (main catalog sold individually on pages 177 – 180 or in sets by colour groups on page 202 of the main catalog) you’re going to be using.
3. Write the names of the colours onto your punched out cardstock as shown (see attachment).
4. Using Dotto Adhesive (main catalog page 206 item #103305), apply to your cardstock circles and then on to your clear-mount block. This will be at the underside of your block as shown in the picture.
It is now ready for use.
1. “Scribble” marker colour onto the top of the clear-mount block, matching up with the cardstock color below.
2. Use your Blender Pen (main catalog page 203 item #102845) to pick-up the colour from the block and proceed with colouring your images in to achieve a nice water colour look to your design.
