Directions for Ribbon Flower:

1. Punch a 1-3/4” circle from Sticky Pages or use a sticky flower or even an alphabet letter from another package. You won’t see the shape underneath, you just want a really sticky surface. Don’t remove any flowers centres – you’ll need that to be sticky too.
2. With your Melon Mambo ribbon still on the reel (or cut off about 2’), twist one end tightly and adhere it to the centre of your sticky shape.
3. Twist the next little bit of ribbon and make contact again with the sticky surface, twist the next little bit, tacky it down to the sticky surface and continue in this fashion until the circle is complete.
4. To finish it off, tuck the tail end of the ribbon to the back side of the circle and adhere with a glue dot.
5. For the leaves – tack the Old Olive ribbon with a Dotto Adhesive. You want it to look like the breast cancer support ribbon, just one side folded over the other.
6. Use Dotto Adhesive once again to adhere the leaves to the back of the flower and then add it to your page.

Elements of style

Elements of Style Card

I just LOVE this gorgeous new stamp set from the new Summer Mini Catalog, Elements of Style. It’s just so pretty and summery, and lends itself well to a “shabby chic” style. The other stamps in the set include a hummingbird, a swirly vine image, and another greeting, making this a very versatile set. This card features a color that I’m so excited to see coming back in the Color Renovation starting July 1st: River Rock!   I really like the combination of River Rock with the bright Melon Mambo, but in the meantime, you could substitute Kraft or Certainly Celery cardstock for this card’s base.

Scratch and Sniff

Have you ever created your own scratch and sniff card?  It’s so easy!!

You will need the following:

.A bold-style stamp set
. VersaMark® pad
. A sugar-free drink mix
. Clear Stampin’ Emboss® powder
. Heat tool
  • Mix 1 part sugar-free drink mix to 1-1/2 parts Clear Embossing powder (see Figure 1).  For example, you would mix 1 teaspoon drink mix with 1-1/2 teaspoons of Clear Embossing powder.  You’ll have a scented embossing powder.
  • Stamp your bold image in Versamark ink on your cardstock.
  • Heat Emboss the image using the scented embossing powder just as you would with any other heat-embossing project (see figure 2).

scratchandsniff1 scratchandsniff2

Notes:
For the scent, select a sugar-free flavored creamer or sugar-free drink mix for your project, such as sugar-free Kool-Aid or cocoa.  Why must the mix be sugar free?  Because heated sugar crisps and browns.  When choosing the right drink mix, consider both colour and scent.  Coloured embossing powder will work for scratch-and-sniff images; however, unless you use embossing powder that is the same colour as your drink mix, the colours may blend strangely.
