Easy Snowman Christmas Card with Christmas Crew | Stampin’ Up!

Who can resist a cheerful snowman holding a Merry Christmas sign? The Christmas Crew Bundle from Stampin’ Up! has some adorable characters, and today I’m sharing a simple Christmas card featuring the snowman, along with several other card ideas using the same bundle.

One of my favourite things about this card is how a narrow strip of Designer Series Paper adds just enough pattern without using a large piece. It’s an easy layout you can use again and again!

A Simple Christmas Card with Secret Sea and Cloud Cover

For this card, I paired Secret Sea Cardstock with Cloud Cover Cardstock and a snowflake pattern from the A Stitched Season Designer Series Paper.

Rather than covering the entire card front with patterned paper, I used a narrow strip along the left side. The dark snowflake pattern contrasts nicely with the lighter background and leaves plenty of room for the snowman.

I added a little Cloud Cover Faux Linen Ribbon, some Adhesive-Backed Snowflakes and a few stamped snowflakes in the background to finish the card.

How to Stamp with Cloud Cover Ink

You may have noticed that the Cloud Cover Classic Stampin’ Pad is no longer available. It was retired after some quality-control issues with the foam pads and ink changing colour.

The good news is that you can still stamp with Cloud Cover! Simply add Cloud Cover Classic Stampin’ Ink Refill to an Uninked Premium Stampin’ Spot to make your own little ink pad.

That’s what I used to stamp the small dots in the background of my snowman card. The dot stamp is included in the Christmas Crew Stamp Set.

It’s an easy way to keep using this lovely soft blue colour in your projects!

Card Making Tip: Make Your Designer Series Paper Go Further

You don’t always need a large piece of Designer Series Paper to make an impact!

Try using a narrow strip along one side of your card. You’ll still get the colour and pattern you love, but you’ll have more paper left for other projects.

It’s especially handy when you’re making a batch of Christmas cards.

Colouring the Christmas Crew Snowman

The snowman is stamped in Basic Black Hybrid Ink and coloured with Stampin’ Blends. I used soft Cloud Cover shading to add some dimension to the white areas, along with Secret Sea for his scarf and Calypso Coral for his carrot nose.

New to Stampin’ Blends? I’ve put together a guide to Stampin’ Blends markers that explains what they are and how to use them.

A little Clear Wink of Stella Glitter Brush adds some sparkle without overwhelming the design.

In the video tutorial, I’ll show you how I coloured the snowman and assembled the card.

More Christmas Crew Card Ideas

The snowman isn’t the only cute character in the Christmas Crew Bundle! There are also a reindeer and a little bear, each with their own festive personality.

I’ve put together a collection of Christmas Crew cards to share with you. Some are my own creations, while others are cards I’ve received in swaps with fellow Stampin’ Up! demonstrators and team members.

I love seeing how everyone uses the same products in different ways! Take a look at all the different layouts, colours and clever little details.

Here’s another version of the snowman using an arched label and a different arrangement of the snowflake paper. It’s a nice way to change up the layout while keeping the same colour combination.

Reindeer Christmas card with three strips of coordinating patterned paperFor this reindeer card, there are three strips of patterned paper behind the focal image. It’s another way to use smaller pieces of Designer Series Paper, especially when you have coordinating patterns.

This reindeer card has a completely different feel with its embossed green background, decorative frame and festive twine.

A Little Detail That Makes a Difference

Christmas Crew bear holding a candy cane with a layered paper paw for added dimension.

Take a closer look at the bear’s paw holding the candy cane.

I cut out a second paw and attached it over the original paw and candy cane. This makes the candy cane look as though it’s tucked behind his paw rather than simply attached on top.

It’s a small extra step, but it makes the finished image look more natural.

You can also use these characters on tags and layered designs. This reindeer looks right at home on a pair of stitched tags with a bright candy cane patterned paper.

Christmas card with two Christmas Crew characters and a window sheet layer that acts like an actual window.

And for something a little different, one of my team members combined two of the characters on this card with an acetate window. The bright red embossed background and green plaid make a festive combination.
