Crafting Waves with the Sunrise Sailing Bundle & Two-Tone Cardstock
Every Friday, I go live to create a card from start to finish—and in this week’s session (Friday June 6 2025), we set sail with the Sunrise Sailing Bundle! ⛵ Read on to see how I did this technique! I also shared a fun giveaway winner and a look back at last week’s sweet doughnut-themed card.
What I Used
Here’s what I used in this clean and creative design (and get the full supply list at the end of this post)
-
Sunrise Sailing Bundle (just the dies today)
-
Two-Tone Cardstock (Pool Party, Lost Lagoon, Pretty Peacock)
-
Basic White Cardstock
-
Pretty Peacock & Lost Lagoon scraps
-
Simply Said Stamp Set (for the “Birthday Wishes” sentiment)
-
Faceted Gems Trio Pack
-
2″ Circle Punch
-
Adhesives: Liquid Glue, Mini Glue Dots, Stampin’ Dimensionals
Technique Spotlight: Torn Paper Waves
One of the most fun elements of this card is the layered wave effect. I used Two-Tone Cardstock, which has a slightly darker tone on the reverse and a white core. By tearing the pieces toward me, I revealed the white edge, giving it a foamy, ocean-wave feel .
You can experiment with different sides and layering—plus it’s a great way to use scraps creatively!
Finishing Touches
-
I cut out sailboat pieces using the coordinating dies from the Sunrise Sailing Bundle.
-
Used liquid glue and dimensionals to build a layered scene—one sailboat flat, the other popped up.
-
For the sentiment, I stamped “Birthday Wishes” (from Simply Said) in black and punched it out with a 2″ circle.
-
Finished with Faceted Gems Trio Pack for just the right amount of sparkle on the waves.
