Create Quick & Beautiful Butterfly Cards with Just One Ink & One Colour

Are you short on time but still want to make a heartfelt handmade card? This simple butterfly card is a perfect example of how you can create something beautiful with minimal supplies—just one ink pad and one colour of cardstock!

For this project, I used the Beautiful Butterflies stamp set from Stampin’ Up!, along with Highland Heather cardstock and Stampin’ Blends in matching shades. The butterfly itself is bold enough to shine on its own—but of course, I had to add a little sparkle using Wink of Stella and some Purple Fine Shimmer Gems.

Why You’ll Love This Project:

  • Uses just two colours: Basic White & Highland Heather

  • Features no fancy techniques—just stamping and colouring

  • A great beginner card or a go-to design when you’re in a hurry

  • Easily adaptable to any ink/paper combo you have on hand

  • Embellished simply with shimmer gems and Wink of Stella

Step It Up: Add Embossing for Extra Wow!

Want to level up your design just a bit? Check out this stepped-up version that adds dimension using the Beautiful Butterflies Hybrid Embossing Folder.

Before embossing, I stamped the greeting so it would sit smoothly within the design. The raised butterfly wings in the background tie perfectly into the theme—plus, I added a gem to the butterfly’s head for extra sparkle.

You’ll also notice I outlined the butterfly in Smoky Slate Blends, which makes the image pop a little more on the white background.
