HUG Cards with Beautiful Gallery DSP & Alphabet Dies

Yesterday, I shared a fun handmade card using the Party Alphabet Dies during my Friday Live. If you missed it, you can catch the full video and card tutorial in this post here.

Well, I couldn’t stop at just one! I ended up creating several more variations of these sweet “HUG” cards using the same Party Alphabet Dies (don’t miss the cool tip I shared below). But honestly? The real star of these designs is the Beautiful Gallery Designer Series Paper.

This gorgeous 6″ x 6″ paper pack is filled with scenic landscapes and elegant florals, all perfectly sized for cardmaking.

I used a different sheet for each card variation—just look how stunning they are!

Soft Florals with Petal Pink

This was the DSP I used on the original HUG card. I gently coloured some of the flowers using Petal Pink Stampin’ Blends to help tie in the background colour.

That subtle touch of colour helps pull everything together so beautifully.

For this second version, I used the same light Petal Pink colouring technique on another floral sheet.

Can you spot the difference? It’s subtle, but that bit of soft colour ties everything together. I also coordinated the card using Petal Pink and Mossy Meadow cardstock, gems, and ink. On this version, I used Stampin’ Dimensionals to pop up the top die-cut and embossed panel, giving it extra depth.

Seaside Style with Secret Sea & Pecan Pie

For the next card, I used this lovely shoreline design. No colouring this time—I let the blues and browns in the DSP set the tone.

I used Cloud Cover for the card base and Pecan Pie for the top layer. The sentiment and die-cut seagulls are in Secret Sea, and those birds are from the Sunrise Sailing Bundle. I finished it off with a touch of Linen Thread for a nautical feel. This one doesn’t have the top layer popped up—I kept it flat for a sleeker look.

Embossing Tip: That Textured Look

All of the cards use the Exposed Brick 3D Embossing Folder, and I used a light sanding block to reveal the white core of the Two-Tone Cardstock. You can see how I did this technique in the video here. All the supplies are also listed in yesterday’s post.

Scenic Views in Mossy & Misty

Next up: this gorgeous valley scene! For this version, I used Mossy Meadow for the embossed layer and Misty Moonlight for the card base. Another peaceful colour combo that really suits the scene.

Bold Blues with Butterflies

This sheet might be my favourite—white roses on a dreamy blue-green background.

Measurements for this card:

  • Card base: 7″ x 6″ (folded to 6″ x 3 ½”)
  • DSP: Cut 6″ x 3″, then trim to 5 ½” x 3″ (you’ll get 2 cards from one sheet!)
  • Two-Tone Cardstock layer: 5 ¾” x 3 ¼”

I used Cloud Cover and Secret Sea cardstock for this one, and added a stamped butterfly from the Beautiful Butterflies Bundle. I also layered in some Basic White cardstock for extra contrast, and cut the sentiment using the Stylish Shapes Dies.

Here’s a cleaner, simpler version with fewer layers and no embossing—still pretty, just quicker to make!

Let me know which version of the HUG card is your favourite! I had so much fun making these—sometimes when inspiration hits, you just keep going!

Sharing is Caring!
