18th Birthday Card

Recently my son had his 18th Birthday!  So I made him this fun pop-up birthday card with a matching gift.  What do you get a teenager for his birthday?  Gift cards, of course!! So I made this gift card holder and we gave him a bunch of assorted gift cards and he was thrilled.

For the Gift Card Holder, I used Stampin’ Up!’s Envelope Punch Board. The smallest size on this punch board fits a Gift Card perfectly. The Punch Board is on the Stampin’ Up! retiring list.  See the full list here.

Here’s how I made the Gift Card Holder.

  1. Make 8 envelopes, using the Envelope Punch Board and the Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper.
  2. I added one extra score line about 1/8″ horizontally along the envelope closure (just to allow for the bulk when folding).
  3. I glued the top of each envelope flap to the back of a previous envelope using Tear & Tape.
  4. And then I folded all the envelopes together and secured it with a belly band with a saying (see pics and tips below).

I love the Broadway Bound Specialty Designer Series Paper as it is so colourful and perfect for a guy’s birthday card.  After attaching all your envelopes together, fold them up to add the belly band.

Make sure you add your gift cards to the wallet first so that your belly band is sized properly.  Simply wrap a strip of cardstock or Designer Paper around the wallet and secure it at the front.  Hide the seam with a saying.  Make the band tight enough that it holds the wallet closed, but loose enough that you can slide it off and on!

The Pop Up Card was more trial and error to make, so I don’t have exact directions for you.  But I did take a longer piece of cardstock (likely cut at 11 x 5.5″) and then folded the middle panel into a “W” shape.  I was then able to take little strips of the window sheets and add punched out ballons to each side of the strip.  I also cut out the numbers from the Large Number Framelits Dies (retired product) and then I tucked them all into the seams of my “W” shape and then I sealed it up with Tear & Tape.

I love how fun these floating elements are in my pop up card! I also added some addition sparkle with the Twinkle Adhesive-Backed sequins (also on the retiring list).

Be sure to check out all of the supplies below and don’t miss out on these retiring items! Items are only available until June 3rd or while supplies last!   See more about the Retiring List here.

I’ll have another “milestone” card to show you this weekend at www.StampwithJenn.com.
