Nature’s Poem DSP for Sympathy Card
One of the first things I look at when I get a new Stampin’ Up! catalogue, is the new Desginer Series Papers. I love this set of designer papers called Nature’s Poem. It is great for masculine cards, fall cards, sympathy cards and more.
I made this sympathy card for a friend who, sadly, lost her mother. The muted tones of this particular sheet of Designer Paper are perfect for this type of card. I put the sentiment on a scalloped oval, cut from dies and the Big Shot (see the supply list at the end of this post for details). I put a solid oval underneath the scallop, just to give it dimension and to pull thru the Crumb Cake colour.
The words are from a great set called Sorry for Everything–it is one of those sets that is good to have in your collection for when you need it. I stamped the “Sorry”in Soft Suede ink and the “for your loss” in Crumb Cake ink. In behind the saying, I used the co-ordinating stamp set to the DSP called Rooted in Nature. I stamped the leaves, from that stamp set in Crumb Cake ink, but first I stamped them on my scrap paper to get a lighter version of the Crumb Cake colour. This new stamp set, Rooted in Nature, is quickly becoming one of my favourite new stamp sets in the new 2018-2019 Stampin’ Up! Catalogue (did you get your copy yet…if not, let me know!).
Around the edges of the saying, I sponged some Soft Suede ink to make the scallops stand out against the Crumb Cake oval underneath.
The final piece I added was some of the Nature’s Twine. I love that Stampin’ Up! has all of these products that co-ordinate together. There are four different twines in this pack that all co-ordinaate with the DSP. I used the Crumb Cake twine for my sympathy card and I wrapped it around the DSP and card base twice and then tied it in a knot. And then just a tiny extra detail–I tied little knots in the end of each of the twine pieces.
