Your Creative Connection: Autumn Card with Country Home
It’s the 4th Wednesday of the month, so it is time for another edition of Your Creative Connection. This time the theme is “Halloween or Autumn”. I decided to go with an Autumn or fall-themed card. It is Autumn here in Burlington, Ontario Canada and I’ve always loved the Country Home stamp set for a fall-themed card.
The Country Home stamp set has two different floral arrangements and two different containers that you can use to mix and match arrangements. And it includes sayings perfect for giving thanks and even Thanksgiving. I choose to pair my image with a saying from the Free as a Bird stamp set. I wanted to give this card to a demonstrator in my group who has done lots for my team group.
You can see another post using the Country Home stamp set here for another rustic fall card, and here for more of a thank you fall card.
For my colour palette, I wanted to use mostly greens and browns with a touch of deep red and orange. I found that one of the sheets from the Plaid Tidings Designer Series Paper was the perfect combination to my coloured image as it picked up the Cherry Cobbler colour on the can (which I mixed with Cinnamon Cider for a more rustic look). And the Designer Paper also had a touch of green and orange that matched my coloured image.
I coloured the image with Blends markers (see more about Blends here) and you can see the full list of which colours I used below. This colour chart gives the main tones of colours that I used on this card.
After, I coloured the image I very carefully cut it out with my Paper Snips Scissors. I wanted it to have more of a 3D look by popping it up with Mini Dimensionals. In behind the image, I used some of the dots from the Waterfront Stamp set to create a light splatter. I first inked up the splatter image, with Calypso Coral ink, and then stamped it on my scrap paper first and then on my card base.
To finish off the card, I first added some Old Olive Ribbon (part of the Ornate Garden Ribbon Pack). I wrapped the ribbon around the front of the card (so it is visible from the inside). The seam for the ribbon is on the front of the card and I covered it up by adding a bow. And then I also added some Shimmery Crystal Effects to the berries (to make them round and shiny) and I painted a little bit of the shimmer on the leaves to make them shiny too. I add a slight touch of Wink of Stella to the Orange greenery and the tips of the succulent plant too.
Check out what my fellow demonstrators did with the “Halloween or Autumn” theme. And be sure to check out the complete supply list for my card below. I’ll share another Autumn card idea tomorrow here at www.StampwithJenn.com.
