Father’s Day Card ~ A Good Man

Father’s Day is this coming weekend!  And this new stamp set A Good Man, is perfect for all your masculine card needs. The stamp set (see image below) has 3 images that are fun to colour and 8 sayings that you can use to personalize your card. This particular card, with the guy relaxing in a chair, would be great for a Father’s day, a man’s birthday, a male teacher, retirement, even a teenager card.

The card for today’s post, I coloured with the Stampin’ Blends Markers. I didn’t do any specific blending on this card. I just coloured in the outline image with the markers. When colouring with Blends markers, make sure to stamp your image first with Memento Black ink so that your image doesn’t bleed.  The alcohol content in the markers make it super easy to colour smoothly.  Learn more about Blends here.

Part of making a masculine card is choosing the colours. I love the blues and browns on this card contrasted with the pop of the Real Red colour.  See the colours I used below in my Colour Combo chart.

I also want to point out the circle shape and the rectangle shape, both have stitching around the edges. I love how the stitching just makes these shapes more interesting on the card versus just a plain circle or rectangle.  These shapes were created on a die cutting machine with the Stitched Shapes and Stitched Rectangle dies from Stampin’ Up!  The Stitched Rectangle dies are farily new and I’m loving them and want to use them all my cards (see the all the supplies and listed at end of this post).

I saw a version of this card online somewhere (I’m sorry I saved it and I don’t know who to credit now) and I loved that there was “ribbon” on this card.  We often think that we can’t add ribbon to a masculine card.  But the right ribbon (in this case the burlap ribbon) attached the right way  (so not a bow, but just a knot, or stapled on like on this card) works on a masculine card!  Trust me they won’t even know it is “ribbon”. 😆  My local stampers made this card at a recent event and not one of them commented that there shouldn’t be ribbon on a guy card!  ( If you are local to Burlington, Ontario, find out about my event in my Events newsletter.)

Thanks for checking out my A Good Man card.  I’ll have another masculine card to show you this week at www.StampwithJenn.com.
