The Southern Serenade stamp set is NOW available in the new Stampin’ Up! Occasions catalogue. I’m going to be honest, at first I skipped over  this stamp set when I was looking through the catalogue. There are SO many other ones I want and I didn’t think I needed more flowers.  I mean flowers are great for Mother’s Day, Get Well, Birthday, Sympathy, etc, but I already have so many sets with flowers in them.  But when I liked the sayings in the set, then I took a closer look at the stamp set.   Here’s a picture of all the pieces in the stamp set.

When I saw all the options in the Southern Serenade stamp set, then I knew I had to have it!  First of all, it is rare that one stamp sets does it for me when making a card. I often reach for other sets, or dies or folders when I start with one stamp set.  But with THIS card, I made the entire card using only pieces from this stamp set!  And my favourite part of the set  turned out to be the background lace piece!  I used it on the background of the card (some of the images are stamped off) — a great way to add the look of texture. And after I stamped and coloured in the flowers with the Blends markers, I used the lace stamp over top of the image (stamped off) to add texture and fill in the white space on the card. I love the soft look of the lace stamp on the whole card.  There is also another lace piece, the line of lace, that I stamped along the left side of the image.  Also from the set,  I’ll use the little matching flower on the envelope.    I’m sure I’ll be using this stamp set again and again, so continue to watch www.stampwithjenn.com for more ideas using the Southern Serenade.

Just a quick note on how I did the flowers.

1. Stamp the image with memento ink.
2. Colour with Blends markers.
3. Colour the very inside of the flower with the Berry Burst marker (to match the ribbon and the cardstock).
4. Colour the very centre of the flower with Wink of Stella.  That little bit of sparkle in the centre is so lovely when you see the card in person.
