Light Up LED Lamppost Card & Video

I made this light up card with my son’s help.  I did the stamping and he figured out the mechanics underneath to make it light up!  See the quick little video below to see how it lights up!

I modeled the design of the card from this card that we made at Stamp-A-Rama in October.

I just changed it up a little, adding more lights, and a different colour sign and card base, and also by die cutting the drummer boy, using the Musical Instruments Framelits.  By the way, these framelits are on sale right now, but only while supplies last.  See the complete Sale List HERE.The way the LED card works is there is cut out on the front of the card that allows the LED light to shine thru.  The LED light is powered by a small watch-type battery and connected with copper tape. The trick is to make one line of tape connect to positive side of the battery and one line to connect to the negative side. It makes the card a little bulky, but it is pretty cool to see if light up in the video below. I think next time, I will look for a smaller LED light. Here’s what the behind the scenes looks like (you can see it in the video too).

I got the electronics from a local electronics store here in Burlington, Sayal Electronics. See all the supplies for this card at the end of this post!  I could see making using an LED light up card for birthday candles, the lights on a car and more!!
