Your Creative Connection & My Favourite DSP

Your Creative Connection Banner

The theme for this week’s creative showcase group, Your Creative Connection, is “Your Favourite Designer Series”. On the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month, this group of my demonstrator friends from around, the world picks a theme and we each post projects around this theme.  This week’s theme is my choice as I wanted to showcase some of the gorgeous Designer Series Papers from Stampin’ Up! And with the Stampin’ Up! retiring list also out today, I have even more reason to show these papers off to you before they disappear.  Note:  The Paper and the Washi Tape shown below are all on the retiring lists (and only available while supplies last).

My favourite Stampin’ Up! Designer Series Paper is Pressed Petals Speciality Designer Series Paper.

Pressed Petals DSPThis paper features gorgeous realistic looking flowers with rich jewel tones and a vintage tone. And the Pressed Petals DSP  is different than all of the other paper in the catalogue for these reasons.

It has 24 sheets as opposed to 12 sheets (4 each of 6 designs)

  • It is lightweight (and would be gorgeous to wrap a small gift)
  • It has photographic images of real pressed petals on one side (and vintage image on the other sides)
  • one design has images meant to be cut up and used on card fronts (see more about this below)
  • it has matching washi tape

I love this paper so much that I have LOTS of projects to show you today!  I’ll start with a project that features the lovely matching Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape.  This pretty tape is also different than the other washi tapes, as instead of a strip of tape, it has petals that you pull off to create a flower! The petals are sticky and you just pull them off and stick them down to create a flower. And the flowers you create match the flowers in the DSP!

pressed petals washi tapeThe package of Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape includes one roll that has 29″ of flowers (which is enough to make tons of flowers).  And the other roll has  vintage-looking images that work well with this theme. To make the flower, first, start with a small punched circle (I used Very Vanilla) and then lay the petals down opposite each other. I started with thinking of a clock with 12, 3, 6 and 9 pm. and then filled in the gaps for the next layer.

I’ve saved a list of all the supplies I used on this card at the end of this blog post.

One of the unique pages on the Pressed Petals Speciality Designer Series Paper is the one pictured below. The paper is divided into pieces to make 7 card fronts, plus a border for an 8th & 9th card!  Plus there are 4 sheets of this particular paper in the package, so you could make 32 cards just from this one sheet alone!   I think this is a hidden gem with the Pressed Petals DSP as it makes absolutely stunning cards in minutes!!  I just added some ribbon and some sayings. The paper is so gorgeous you don’t need to add any more stamps.

Pressed petals card fronts

I cut up each of these card front pieces and made the cards below.

In most cases, I just trimmed them a little bit and then layered them on the front of the card base. For some of the cards, I added a matching layer, a saying and ribbons.  I used the colours in the paper: Merry Merlot, Rococo Rose, Crumb Cake, Soft Suede, Mossy Meadow, Daffodil Delight and Night of Navy to match the card fronts.

I made 4 regular sized cards with the papers (see what colours and accessories I used under each card). And then I made 2 smaller cards and two more regular size cards using the border piece and some more Pressed Petals Specialty Washi Tape.
